Mnyera Fishing
Discover the thrill of Mnyera Fishing along the river, where tradition meets breathtaking scenery. Our clients begin their journey with sundowners at the local bwawa (water hole). Perched atop an ancient termite mound, you can savour the classic red African sunset with a pint in hand, while observing wildlife gathering around the water. This is a truly authentic way to experience Africa in its purest form.
Final Cast Moment
After a long day on the Mnyera River, even as dusk settled, the passion for angling remained undimmed. As we prepared to call it a day, Brad—ever the dedicated angler—made one final cast that rewarded his persistence with a magnificent tiger fish. This remarkable moment perfectly encapsulates the spirit of determination and skill that defines our fishing trips.
Hammock Hour
Spending hours casting a 9‑weight rod under the mid‑morning sun can be both mentally and physically demanding. To recharge, our guides suggest anchoring the boat under a shady tree around 10am for a short break—whether you fancy a steaming cup of coffee or a refreshing pint, as the river whispers its choice. By 1pm, guests are often drawn to the inviting hammocks set up under the tree canopy, where a brief siesta frequently turns into a well‐earned nap.
Fly Tying Feature
This week’s fly of choice is the polar fibre bait fish—a delicately tied pattern that excels when the fish get technical. Perfect for a floating line with a bead, this fly is crafted solely on the front half of the hook shank to keep the hook gape open for optimal hook‑up ratios. A few strands of flashabou and clumps of polar fibre are added, with Solar Rez used to create lifelike eyes and a subtle curve that elevates the overall presentation.
