Gabon Fishing Trips – An Unforgettable time at Sette Cama

Gabon Fishing Trips

Gabon Fishing Trips

We recently hosted a group of eight American fly anglers who brought plenty of determination and enthusiasm. For those seeking truly immersive Gabon fishing trips, Sette Cama continues to deliver. Fishing here often means working with nature’s timing, and with the tides falling late, the team found themselves fishing well into the night. The long hours required patience and stamina, but everyone was up for the challenge.

Tarpon Action and Threadfin Numbers

Tarpon were present in good numbers, with multiple hook-ups across the week. Despite plenty of action, only one was landed. Fly lines were tested—and in several cases, lost—against these powerful fish. Still, the sight of a big tarpon launching out of the dark kept everyone motivated and focused.

Threadfin were active throughout, offering consistent bites during the night sessions. These fish kept rods bent and anglers busy, providing plenty of fun when the tarpon didn’t stick.

Snapper, Kob and Midweek Jack Surge

One of the standout catches was a large snapper estimated at around 20 kg. Several kob also made an appearance, with a few good-sized fish coming to hand. Jacks were quiet at first, but once the tides turned midweek, they arrived in numbers, adding some fast-paced fishing to the mix.

Exploring the Jungle

Off the water, the team had the chance to explore the surrounding forest on foot. The jungle walk gave everyone a break from the fishing and a chance to take in the area’s natural beauty—birds, monkeys, and dense tropical forest adding another layer to the experience.
