Sette Cama Fishing Gear

When it comes to Sette Cama Fishing Gear, having the right setup is the difference between frustration and success. The surf, estuary, and lagoon each demand specific tackle, and over the years our guides have refined exactly what works best. This guide gives you an overview of the recommended spin, fly, and jigging setups for Sette Cama. For the precise lure and line list that consistently produces fish here, we’ll set you up directly before your trip.

Surf Spin Fishing at Sette Cama

A medium-heavy 11ft surf rod rated for 2–5oz lures paired with a large saltwater reel (14000 size) is ideal. Spool with 65lb abrasion-resistant braid—a must for the shell-strewn surf zone.

Leader & Terminal Setup

  • Around 1.2mm hard monofilament leader

  • Strong swivel and split ring system for lure changes

  • Bring split ring pliers for efficiency

Lures That Work

Think along the lines of:

  • Casting spoons in the 60–80g range

  • Bucktail jigs around 1.5–2oz in bright patterns

  • Sinking stickbaits and tremblers that handle rough surf

  • A couple of solid casting poppers

  • Plastics on heavy jigheads with 6-inch paddletails

We’ve refined a shortlist of lures and colours that consistently produce at Sette Cama. Contact us before your trip and we’ll make sure you have the right ones in your box.

Surf Fly Fishing

A 12wt outfit is the standard. You’ll need a robust saltwater reel with a smooth drag to cope with tarpon, cubera snapper, and jack crevalle.

Lines

  • An intermediate line with the right head taper for punching into surf and turning over big flies

Leaders

  • Heavy fluorocarbon butt section

  • Strong bite tippet (over 1mm) for fish with serious teeth

If you’re not sure about fly selection, our pre-tied surf fly packs are built specifically for this fishery.

Estuary Spin Fishing

The estuary demands a setup with stopping power but more finesse than the surf. A medium-heavy rod matched with a 6000-size reel and 40lb braid is the sweet spot.

Leader

  • 0.5–0.8mm monofilament depending on target species

Effective Lures

  • Medium-sized poppers and walking baits (around 120mm)

  • Slim stickbaits in the 90–100mm range

  • Paddle tails rigged on strong jigheads

  • Smaller bucktail jigs for jacks

We keep the best estuary lures in stock at camp. Chat with us about building a pack tailored to your dates and target species.

Estuary Fly Fishing

For fly, a 9wt or 10wt outfit is perfect in the lagoon and creeks, with floating, intermediate, and sinking lines to cover the water column.

Leader Setup

  • Standard 0.5mm mono is sufficient for most species

  • For larger snapper, step up to the heavier 12wt surf setup

Our team has a dialled-in estuary fly box that covers all bases—reach out if you’d like one ready for arrival.

Micro Jigging in the Lagoon

A 7ft medium rod matched to a 3000-size reel with 20lb braid and 25lb fluoro leader is ideal.

Lures

  • 10–20g micro jigs are very effective in the lagoon system

Hire rods are available in camp, and we stock the exact micro jigs that work here.

For peace of mind, we can supply:
