Trout X

Built Around Real Trout Fishing Conditions

The Echo Trout X Fly Rod series was designed with one goal in mind: creating highly capable trout rods that perform across a far wider range of casting distances and fishing situations than traditional fly rods. Rather than focusing purely on the standard 30–50 foot casting range most rods are designed around, the Trout X series uses Echo’s Variable Sweet Spot (VSS) technology to load efficiently and cast effectively at both short and longer distances.

The result is a rod series built for anglers who value precision, adaptability, and feel across technical trout fishing situations.

Variable Sweet Spot Technology

At the core of the Trout X design is Echo’s VSS action, where the rod progressively stiffens from tip to butt without relying on a single dominant “sweet spot.” This allows experienced casters to adjust casting stroke, loop shape, and line speed more naturally depending on the fishing situation, whether making delicate short-range presentations or longer technical casts in difficult conditions.

The rods remain intuitive enough for developing anglers to grow into while offering the responsiveness and adaptability that more advanced casters appreciate.

Purpose-Built Models for Different Trout Applications

Each Trout X model has been specifically developed around practical fishing scenarios rather than generic line weights alone.

The shorter 376 model is optimised for small rivers, freestone streams, and pocket water where quick loading, accurate short casts, and line control matter most. The 490 model balances technical accuracy with improved mending and drift control for spring creeks and medium to larger rivers. The highly versatile 590 acts as a true all-round trout rod capable of handling dries, nymphs, hopper-dropper rigs, and lighter streamers. The more powerful 690 is designed for heavier flies, wind, indicator rigs, and larger water where additional power becomes important.

Lightweight Performance Without Excess

Built using high-quality carbon fibre materials, lightweight guides, SIC stripper guides, and refined componentry throughout, the Trout X series focuses on practical casting efficiency, reduced fatigue, and dependable real-world trout fishing performance.
