Fishing in Loango

Fishing in Loango

This week, we welcomed familiar faces and new clients from Europe to Sette Cama, all eager to experience the wonders of fishing in Loango National Park, Gabon. Excitement was high following the success of the previous week, and the stunning surroundings of Loango set the perfect stage for another exceptional fishing adventure.

Thriving Threadfin Action

The action picked up right where it left off, with threadfin biting consistently during evening and morning sessions over the first three days. Although they became scarce midweek, the final evening rewarded us with a few more solid catches.

Snapper and Tarpon Highlights

This week saw an uptick in snapper activity, with a couple of impressive 20+kg fish caught on both artificial lures and bait. The elusive tarpon also made appearances every evening, though only a handful were hooked. The standout was a stunning tarpon caught on fly, making it all the more memorable.

A Crevalle to Remember

Jack crevalle proved unpredictable this week, with mornings delivering more consistent action. One guest, Stu, landed an extraordinary 25kg crevalle on a paddle tail at sunset—a true trophy catch.

Rare Lagoon Catch Fishing in Loango

A standout moment occurred during a morning lagoon session when a leesh was caught on a popper fly. This rare catch added an element of surprise and highlighted the unique biodiversity of the Loango waters.

Micro Jigging Fun

Micro jigging provided a mix of snapper and threadfin, offering a thrilling way to tick off new species. This versatile technique remains a favourite among anglers of all skill levels.
