Fishing Adventures on the Orange River
Four close mates, thirsty for adventure, hit the banks of the mighty Orange River, eager to embark on their Fishing Adventures on the Orange River with three things on their minds: big fish, relaxation, and cold beers. The first two days were cold, rainy, and overcast, making the fishing tough. Only the barbel were biting, with some of the clients facing brutal battles—especially that 98cm monster on the fly. But every fish was landed.
Catch of the Day: A Golden Surprise
Day three kicked off with open beer cans at dawn as the guide anchored in a fast-flowing channel. He suggested casting under the trees, and on the very first cast—bang! Fish on. It stayed deep, and everyone feared another barbel had taken the fly. Ten minutes later, though, a golden slab surfaced. The 58cm smallmouth yellow was netted, and the beers flowed with cheers.
Memorable Moments: Wild Stories and Unforgettable Fun
The rest of the week was a blur of wild stories, scenic views, and cold beverages. One highlight? A guides vs. clients paddling contest that involved hauling boats up a rapid before charging back down. The clients, with years of experience and less sober paddling, managed to beat the guides in an epic time trial. A race for the ages.
The week was unforgettable: kudu sightings, stunning sunsets, hilarious campfire tales (some best left untold), and late-night antics that made the trip both hard to forget—and, for a few, hard to remember.
